History of Palazzo Lodron
Witch trials & history of Palazzo Lodron in Nogaredo Italy
History
The Palazzo Lodron in Nogaredo is an historic house built in the second half of the 15th century and finished during the 17th century. After commissioning the Cathedral of Salzburg and the Hellbrunn Castle to Architect Santino Solari (1576-1646), Nogaredo-born Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg Paris Lodron asked Solari to complete the Palazzo Lodron in Nogaredo.
The Palazzo is especially known for hosting witch trials (1647-1717). The Lodron family, one of the most prominent of Vallagarina , has been in Trentino since 1000.
The Palazzo today
The Relais Palazzo Lodron is located in the south wing of the Palazzo. It has been carefully transformed into an exquisite guest house near the Garda Lake by a Lodron descendent. We are located 1.5 km away from A22 Brenner Highway, exit Rovereto Nord.
The climate is mild thanks to the microclimate created by Lake Garda. We are surrounded by the vineyards of Vallagarina which produce the famous Marzemino wine. Wolfang Amadeus Mozart tasted Marzemino while in Vallagarina and praises it in his “Don Giovanni”.
