Culture holiday Nogaredo : MART, Casa Depero and Muse in Trento

MART

Opened in 2002, the modern and contemporary art museum of Trento and Rovereto is one of the most important contemporary art museums of Italy.
Designed by Architect Mario Botta and Engineer Giulio Andreolli, the museum and its dome have become one of Italy’s most significant contemporary architectural masterpieces.
MART’s 12.000 works focus primarily on twentieth century vanguard. The museum rotates its permanent collection and hosts several exhibits a year (between 2002 and 2009).

Casa Depero Museum

Inaugurated in 2009 and based on a project developed by Depero himself, the Casa d’Arte Fortunato Depero is Italy’s only museum dedicated to the Futurist movement.

Nogaredo the city of wine and witches.”Vallagarina is a Wine Garden”
(Vallagarina’s Roads of Wine and Flavours). Vineyards in Nogaredo create a charming and romantic landscape. The Relais Palazzo Lodron is positioned along the Roads of Wine and Flavours of Vallagarina. Typical of Vallagarina is Marzemino, a medium body, rather warm, flowery and fruity ruby red wine.

Nogaredo, city of witches

In 1646 a woman from Nogaredo, Mercuria, accused another woman of theft and witchcraft: both were arrested, followed by several more. Exhausted by torture, all pleaded guilty and accused one another. During the witch trial, held at Palazzo Lodron, their defense attorney proved that the interrogations had not been conducted correctly. Nonetheless, they were all found guilty, executed and burned. Italian singer Ivano Fossati dedicates a song “Lunario di Settembre” to one of them:
“Nothing of what I do matters
that I try to resist or fall
you just don’t understand
this is a big sea
I don’t love you
this is the tragedy”

Vallagarina

Vallagarina is the old Via Maestra between the Alps and Lake Garda that once connected Northern Europe to Southern Europe.

In Rovereto, the city of oak, you can visit the castle (home to the War Museum), its historic center and the MART.

Rovereto has been declared the City of Peace and hosts the Bell of Peace, made of melted bronze cannons in memory of victims of all wars.

You can also visit several castles:

Beseno Castle, Pietra Castle, Noarna Castle and Sabbionara Castle.

Cycling Paths

Cycle path Claudia Augusta, the old roman way Claudia Augusta Padana, is Trentino’s main cycle path: it runs along the Adige river and through the Val d’Adige and Vallagarina, Trento and Rovereto. At Mori, it separates and takes you to Lake Garda in less than 15 km.
The closest entry point from our Relais is at the S. Ilario bridge, approximately 1.5 km.
Those who love mountain biking can choose from a wide variety of beautiful itineraries with different levels of difficulty
In our library, guides and maps are available to help our guests choose cycling paths. Cyclists are welcome to use our garage to safely park their bikes

Hiking & Walking

Hiking

From Relais Palazzo Lodron you can hike through Vallagarina’s vineyards and explore, by bike, the Vallagarina’s castles.

The area also offers great hiking itineraries:

Val di Gresta, Piccole Dolomiti and Monte Baldo.

Nordic Walking

The mountains around us are ideal for taking a walk and enjoy beautiful views on vineyards.

Skiing

Not far from our Relais you can ski enjoying breathtaking views on Lake Garda. Brentonico, Folgaria, Val di Gresta and Valli del Leno are only 20 km away. Downhill skiing, Nordic skiing, carve turn, and snowboarding are all activities available in nearby areas.

Motorcycling

The streets of Vallagarina offer several turns, glimpses and vineyards making motorcycling an ideal way to explore these areas.
